Tuesday - Calm and Hot

Today started out as usual.  Dog River for Coffee and then Bette's for BreakfastTemira's forecast didn't look very promising - not even projecting enough for foiling.

We had our daily visit to the Sailworks Loft, and Jim M. showed Handre how to assemble his new foil.  Phil asked if he could get us to give the Sail Loft a positive comment on google.  It helps them with their listing.  Here is the link if you want to help out with that.  CLICK HERE

In the afternoon, the group split up.  Cam, Cynthia, and Handre went for a bike ride.  They did the East Loop, ending up at the China Gorge corner.  It was a beautiful ride through the winery orchards.

Al,  Harold, Andreas, Brad, and Blain went golfing and did 18 holes in very hot temperatures.  Sorry - no photos, but they said it was "Target Golf" on the back nine.  If you hit the target you are good - otherwise you are taking out another ball.  They stayed at the club for supper.  Sorry - no Photos.

Kent did some work for his dad, did a bottle and garbage run, and I did some work for a consulting contract I have and caught up on my blog and photos.  I also went onto the google site and gave the Sailworks guys a good rating :<)

Rene spent the evening shopping.  I understand that he needed two new carbon booms which will match his board better than his old red ones.

Ross, Kent and I decided to go for a stand-up paddle.  Ross said we wouldn't be gone for more than an hour.  We started out going past Wells Island, to the Hotel on the cliff to see the waterfall.  Then like a dummy, I said "Hey, why don't we paddle to the Hatchery, so we paddled across the river.  Suddenly we were in the current.  The trip across the river and back took a lot of energy, and of course, the entire trip back was against the current, although the current was less on the Oregon side.  In all, we paddled 9km.  Probably my longest SUP ride to date.  It was a beautiful day, but hot.  We should have taken water with us.  I was pretty dehydrated by the time we got back.

The Port Authority has installed new parking meters across the road from the event site.  Both Ross and I dutifully paid for two hours thinking that it would be lots of time.  My receipt said I was good until 4:35.  We got back just after 4:40.  There was already a note on my car.  Fortunately, it was a complementary warning ticket.  They must get notified anytime someone's time is running out, so they can drive by and give them a ticket.  Beware!

We put more money in the parking machine and went to the Sandbar Cafe for a beer.  I also drank a liter of water trying to re-hydrate.

When we got back to the condo we showered and changed.  We called the guy's who were golfing to see if we should go up to the golf clubhouse for supper, but they said that a big group had just arrived and the service was slow.  (I suspect they just didn't want us to join them...).

Cam, Cynthia, Hanre, Rene, Kent and I all walked down to Double Mountain Pizza for supper.  Ross road his new E-Bike down and brought it right into the restaurant.  Andreas joined us later, having used his longboard skateboard to get there.

Apparently, in Hood River it is OK to park in the Restaurant!

The pizza and service was excellent as usual.  On the way home, Ross, who was on his E-Bike pulled Andreas who was on his longboard.  I guess it worked very well.  Ross was planning on getting a second E-Bike for Karen, but now he may just skateboard and Karen can pull him along.....  or maybe not....

Back at the Condo, we went through a bit of wine and ice cream discussing everything in general and really nothing at all.  Another late evening - in bed by 11:30.
