Thursday - The Guys Arrival

A foiling Day.

We got up at 7:00.  Ross cooked a delicious breakfast, then Spencer packed up and headed for California!  After checking out all kinds of routes he decided that it would be cool to say he had made it to California on his bike trip.  He has a hotel booked at Cresent City for two nights, so plans to Surf tomorrow.  How great to be young!
Spencer - ready to go!

Ross left for Portland to do a presentation.  He is working as an Engineering Sales Rep.   He will be back tonight.

Kent and I agreed to meet at the event site to try some sailing.  Kent got out his new Pacific board.  It was custom built just for him, and it says so on the board!

We both started rigging.  I rigged my new 7.0m sail, then had to de-rig and re-rig it because I didn't put the mast in properly, but by the time I had it ready the wind had picked up.

Went was out on his 6.0m sail, but came in to re-rig to his 4.8m sail.

I rigged my 5.2m Gaastra sail and went out.  It was overpowered a lot of the time, so it was a steep learning curve to stop the foil from jumping out of the water.

Handre showed up and rigged his 6.0 on a 94l board.  He had a good time racing back and forth - overpowered.

The rest of the crew arrived but went to the Hatchery.  They tell us they had a good sail.  Rene was on his 5.6.  Brad and Blaine were on 5/2's.  Maybe we should have packed up and joined them, but both Kent and I were really anxious to try our foils.

We all hooked up at 6th Street Bistro for supper.  It sounded like everyone had a great day.

Cam showed up late, looking for beer.  Andreas has been sailing on the coast.  His plan is to drop Sue off on Saturday and then join us.  Cynthia will also be flying in on Saturday.

We are looking forward to a great trip!

My nose repair looks a lot better than I thought it would.

Handre!

Spencer on the coast!
